WHITE DRAMA – OF REI KAWAKUBO ON THE BACGROUND OF CRISTOBAL BALENCIAGA

Cristobal Balenciaga a Spanish designer. He had a reputation as a couturier of uncompromising standards and was referred to as “the master of us all” by Christian Dior. His bubble skirts and odd, feminine, yet ultra-modern shapes were trademarks of the house.

In tribute to the master of couture (1895-1972) and the 40th anniversary of his death, Galliera unveils, with the support of the Maison Balenciaga, a collection of passionate assembly modes by fashion and generously donated by the family the museum. Whalebone and casaquins, satin light clothes, boleros velvet collars and cloaks, dresses turnings, cashmere stoles, lace mantillas, embroidery and braiding samples … All these pieces, often lavish even small up jumble this collection of eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
