Alexandre Samson, curator in charge of contemporary collections at Palais Galliera gives opportunity to see exhibition Back Side/Dos à la mode from 23 of Aprill till 17 of November 2019 in Paris. In case of renovation of Palais Galliera exposition presented in Antoine Bourdelle museum. The exhibition settles across the Great Hall of Plasters, the contemporary Portzamparc extension and Antoine Bourdelle’s studio. There is also a selection of film extracts and photographs.

Alexandre Samson put the main focus on a back as concept of this exhibition. This part of body as a subject of a mode, history, photographie. Among the outstanding collection of Museum Galliera was chosen dresses  made by Thierry Mugler, Chanel, Jean Paul Gauthier, Martin Margiela, Yohji Yamamoto, Junya Watanabe, Rick Owens, Elsa Schiaparelli and many others from XIX century till nowadays. I would like to say that absolutely ounstanding how juxstapoised fashion garments with sculptures of Antoine Bourdelle. That ‘s playing  with time, material and sense of a space. One more important in this idea that fashion was elevated till level of eternal values. “A fashion exhibition is paradoxical: you’ll always miss both body and movement. The sculptures of Antoine Bourdelle helped to find what was missing in the conception of the exhibition i.e. muscles of the back, shadows of shoulder blades, drawing of a spine and beginning of movements” commented Alexandre Samson.
