AGANOVICH READY-TO-WEAR SPRING-SUMMER 2016, PARIS FASHION WEEK
Nana Aganovich and Brooke Taylor demonstrated spring-summer collection 2016 for whitechapel-based womenswear label Aganovich, 30 September in Paris. The conceptual narratives within the brand are devised by Brooke Taylor, a former writer. When Taylor met Aganovich, he used to spin exotic stories of international conspiracy and feminine intrigue to impress Aganovich. This exchange evolved into a working model for the Aganovich collections where Taylor continues to devise narratives within which Aganovich can evoke her aesthetic. Bathed in the yellow light of ancient projectors and swathed in artificial smog, the Aganovich runway set the tone for a collection where perception and obsession blurred into a gradient.
In additional to this, Nana Aganovich and Brooke Taylor have always excelled at showcasing a sense of tailoring that takes us back in time. In fact, the designer-duo’s historical take on fashion is often expressed through a range of story-telling outfits, that look like soft armors at times, and always impress through their imaginative craftsmanship, sculpted shapes and detached styling. This season’s virtuoso pieces included evening wear designs that reintegrated the masculine suit and tie looks, and that came with a deconstructed flair and asymmetric hemline, while playing with animal prints and pink-hued colour.
